OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 Product Information

OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 is a nutritional supplement containing vitamins D3 and K2 to help improve mood and support musculoskeletal health.

Vitamin D3 helps the body to produce serotonin and supports calcium absorption in the intestines, aiding muscle fibre contraction and bone strength, while vitamin K2 prevents calcium from being deposited in soft tissues, ensuring it reaches bone tissue.

The combination of these mechanisms contributes to improvements in mood and musculoskeletal health, as well as immunity and daily energy levels.

Each serving contains Quantity % NRV*
Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 100µg (4000 IU**) 2,000%
Vitamin K2 MK-7 (Menaquinone-7) 100µg (100 IU**) 133.3%
* NRV = Nutrient Reference Value
** IU = International Units

Vitamin D3 and K2 work together to help the body use calcium effectively, supporting bone and heart health:

  • Vitamin D3 enhances calcium absorption in the intestines by increasing the expression of calcium-binding proteins, such as calbindin, which transports calcium across the intestinal lining and into the bloodstream, ensuring adequate calcium levels in the body.
  • Vitamin K2 ensures calcium is properly distributed in the body by activating proteins such as matrix Gla protein (MGP), which prevents calcium from building up in arteries. Vitamin K also activates osteocalcin, which directs calcium to bones and teeth.

  • Balanced mood - Vitamin D3 supports the production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, which influence mood and emotional well-being. A deficiency in Vitamin D is often linked to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a form of depression that typically occurs on the shorter days of the year due to reduced sunlight exposure. Supplementing with Vitamin D3 can help counteract the effects of SAD by promoting better mood regulation throughout the year.
  • Bone and teeth strength - Vitamin D3 enhances calcium absorption in the intestines by increasing the production of calcium-binding proteins, allowing more calcium to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Vitamin K2 activates proteins such as osteocalcin, which bind calcium and direct it to bones and teeth to ensure calcium is efficiently deposited where it is most needed. This process strengthens the skeletal structure and improves bone density, significantly reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
  • Muscle function - Vitamin D3 is essential for maintaining adequate calcium levels in muscles, which subsequently facilitates the contraction and relaxation of muscle fibres. This mechanism supports overall muscular strength and helps prevent muscle weakness, cramps and spasms.
  • Immune function - Vitamin D3 plays an important role in strengthening the immune system by enhancing the function of immune cells that are essential for defending the body against pathogens. Adequate vitamin D levels help the immune system respond more effectively to infections, reducing the likelihood and severity of illnesses such as colds, flu and respiratory infections.
  • Energy levels - Vitamin D3 helps maintain healthy levels of calcium and phosphate, which are critical for muscle contraction and overall energy metabolism. By enhancing calcium absorption in the intestines, Vitamin D3 supports muscle function, which can impact energy levels. Vitamin K2 promotes overall metabolic health by ensuring efficient oxygen and nutrient delivery to cells. Together, these vitamins aid in maintaining healthy energy metabolism, helping to reduce fatigue.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression caused by inadequate vitamin D synthesis due to reduced sunlight exposure during autumn and winter.

Normally, ultraviolet B (UVB) rays from the sun penetrate the skin during the day and interact with a cholesterol derivative, triggering a chemical reaction in the body that converts the derivative into pre-vitamin D3, which is subsequently converted into vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).

Reduced sunlight exposure during autumn and winter inhibits this process, leading to a vitamin D deficiency and inhibiting the production of serotonin - a neurotransmitter that regulates mood by facilitating communication between nerve cells in the brain.

This mechanism lowers serotonin levels in the brain, resulting in SAD symptoms such as lethargy, sadness and a persistently low mood.

OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 contains 2,000% of the Nutrient Reference Value for vitamin D3 to help prevent a deficiency and reduce the risk of experiencing the symptoms of SAD.

It is recommended to take one tablet of OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 per day. Individuals who wish to take more than this amount may do so after consulting a doctor. For most individuals, it is not necessary to take more than one tablet per day.

There is no established maximum intake of vitamin K2, however, it is not recommended to exceed 300µg per day.

The exact time it takes to experience the desired effects of OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 can vary depending on:

  • Diet - The absorption of vitamins D3 and K2 can be affected by an individual’s intake of dietary fats, which can enhance the absorption of these fat-soluble vitamins. Consuming a diet rich in healthy fats from foods such as avocados, nuts and olive oil can help facilitate the quicker absorption of vitamin D3.
  • Existing health conditions - Certain health conditions, such as coeliac disease or Crohn's disease, can affect the absorption and utilisation of vitamins, delaying the noticeable results from taking OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2.

OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 can be taken by all individuals, including vegetarians and vegans, with the exception of individuals who are allergic to soya.

Individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication should consult a doctor before taking OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2.

  • OneVit Magnesium - Magnesium plays a vital role in activating vitamin D3 by converting it into its active form, calcitriol. This enhances the potential of OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 to support bone health and muscle function.
  • OneVit Omega 3 - Omega-3 fatty acids can support cardiovascular function and reduce inflammation, working synergistically with OneVit Vitamin D3 and K2 to promote heart health.
  • OneVit Probiotics Complex - Probiotics can enhance the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins such as D3 and K2, ensuring that the body effectively utilises these nutrients for maximum benefit.
