Avarante (Tadalafil)

Avarante is a branded erectile dysfunction treatment for adult men. Each Avarante tablet contains 10mg of tadalafil, a medicine belonging to a group called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors.

Avarante is a Pharmacy medicine, which means it can be supplied without a prescription following an assessment by a pharmacist to check that the treatment is suitable for you.

Avarante is licensed as a 10mg tablet and is intended to be taken when needed before sexual activity. It is not intended for continuous daily use.

Generic Tadalafil contains the same active ingredient and is available through Pharmica as a prescription treatment in a wider range of strengths and dosing options, including low-dose daily treatment.

Avarante contains the active ingredient tadalafil, which helps increase blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation.

When you are sexually stimulated, the body releases nitric oxide, which helps increase levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This causes the smooth muscle in the blood vessels of the penis to relax, allowing more blood to flow into the penis.

Tadalafil inhibits the PDE-5 enzyme that normally breaks down cGMP. This helps the effects of cGMP last longer and supports your ability to get and maintain an erection when sexually stimulated.

The recommended dose is one Avarante 10mg tablet taken at least 30 minutes before anticipated sexual activity.

• Swallow one tablet with water
• Avarante can be taken with or without food
• Do not take more than one tablet in any 24-hour period
• Sexual stimulation is required for Avarante to work
• Do not take Avarante in combination with another erectile dysfunction treatment

Avarante should be taken at least 30 minutes before anticipated sexual activity. Clinical studies of tadalafil 10mg (the active ingredient in Avarante) found that some men were able to achieve and maintain an erection for successful intercourse from around 30 minutes after taking a dose.

The erectile response can be supported for up to 36 hours after taking Avarante. This does not mean that you will have an erection continuously for 36 hours.

Sexual stimulation is still required during this period for the treatment to work.

In two at-home clinical studies involving 706 patients, tadalafil (the active ingredient in Avarante) significantly improved erectile function and the ability to have successful sexual intercourse compared with placebo.

In these studies, tadalafil 10mg supported successful erectile responses from around 30 minutes after dosing and for up to 36 hours.

Individual results vary. Factors such as the underlying cause of erectile dysfunction, other medicines, alcohol use and whether Avarante has been taken correctly can affect your response.

Like all medicines, Avarante can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. The most commonly reported side effects of tadalafil include headache, indigestion, back pain and muscle aches.

Seek urgent medical advice if you experience serious symptoms such as an erection lasting longer than four hours, sudden loss or reduction of vision or hearing, chest pain or signs of a serious allergic reaction.

Avarante is not suitable for everyone. Before it can be supplied, a pharmacist will review your health and any medicines you take to check that the treatment is appropriate for you.

Do not take Avarante if you use nitrate medicines or nitric oxide donors, including recreational nitrates known as “poppers”, or if you take riociguat. Avarante may also be unsuitable if you have certain heart conditions, have recently had a heart attack or stroke, have previously experienced certain forms of sudden vision loss or take medicines that can interact with tadalafil.
