OneVit Biotin Product Information

OneVit Biotin is a nutritional supplement that contains 10,000μg of biotin (vitamin B7) extracted from microorganisms cultivated in quality-controlled, nutrient-rich environments.

This concentration is significantly higher than the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) of biotin, as it is intended to prevent a deficiency and subsequently contribute to skin, hair and nail health.

Each serving contains Quantity NRV*
Biotin (vitamin B7) 10,000µg 200%**
* NRV = Nutrient Reference Value
** The high concentration of biotin in OneVit Biotin is intended to help prevent a deficiency arising from the body’s inability to synthesise sufficient quantities of biotin from dietary sources.

Some of the most common symptoms of biotin deficiency include:

  • Brittle nails - Insufficient biotin levels can impair the synthesis of keratin, a structural protein essential for strong nails. This can result in brittle nails that are prone to splitting and/or cracking.
  • Skin inflammation - Biotin plays a crucial role in the synthesis of fatty acids (lipids), which are essential for maintaining the skin's protective barrier. Biotin deficiency can decrease lipid production, leaving the skin more susceptible to inflammation, redness or swelling from exposure to external irritants.
  • Hair loss - In addition to nail strength, keratin also affects the structure of hair. Reduced keratin production due to a Biotin deficiency causes hair follicles to produce thinner and more fragile hair strands, increasing hair loss.
  • Fatigue - Biotin is essential for the function of enzymes involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Without adequate biotin efficient conversion of nutrients into usable energy (ATP) is impaired, leading to tiredness and fatigue.

  • Improved skin hydration - Biotin contributes to the activity of enzymes known as ‘carboxylases’ that help synthesise fatty acids in the body. Fatty acids are subsequently converted into lipids (natural oils) which form a protective barrier on the skin’s surface and help maintain skin hydration.
  • Stronger nails - The production of lipids, which is facilitated by biotin (as described above), creates ideal conditions for the proliferation of a type of cell known as ‘keratinocytes’. This type of cell produces a protein known as keratin, which forms the structural framework of nails. Therefore, biotin intake is essential for nail durability and strength.
  • Denser hair - In addition to nail structure, keratin is a key component of the structure of hair. Therefore, biotin intake can help improve hair strength, and density, particularly in individuals with a biotin deficiency.
  • Stable energy levels - Biotin helps convert pyruvate, a substance produced when glucose is broken down for energy, into oxaloacetate, a substance that helps the body generate glucose from non-carbohydrate sources, such as proteins and fats. This mechanism helps stabilise blood sugar levels, ensuring the body receives a continuous supply of energy.

It is recommended to take one tablet of OneVit Biotin per day. While there is no official upper limit for biotin supplementation, the excessive intake of this vitamin can cause adverse effects, such as skin rashes and digestive issues.

OneVit Biotin can produce noticeable results within a few weeks of consistent use. With that said, the exact time taken to experience the desired results can vary depending on:

  • Age - The body’s ability to metabolise biotin can decrease with age, as the activity of enzymes involved in biotin absorption, such as biotinidase, can diminish over time. Additionally, most individuals experience a natural decline in nutrient absorption and cellular regeneration with age. Due to these factors, it may take slightly longer for older individuals to notice the benefits of OneVit Biotin for skin, hair, and nail health.
  • Diet - Certain foods naturally contain a high concentration of biotin, such as eggs, nuts, seeds and whole grains. Individuals who do not eat a sufficient amount of these foods are more likely to have a biotin deficit, and may therefore notice the benefits of taking OneVit Biotin sooner.
  • Genetics - Research shows that the ‘SLC19A3’ gene affects how quickly the body absorbs and utilises biotin. Individuals with variations in this gene are likely to absorb and process biotin differently, which can impact how quickly they notice the benefits of OneVit Biotin.

OneVit Biotin is suitable for use by all individuals, including vegetarians and vegans. Individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication should consult a doctor before taking OneVit Biotin.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is recommended to consult a GP or doctor before taking OneVit Biotin.

  • OneVit Marine Collagen Complex - Marine collagen supports the dermis layer of the skin and provides structural support to hair follicles to strengthen hair strands, while biotin aids keratin production to further support skin, hair and nail health. Therefore, taking OneVit Marine Collagen alongside OneVit Biotin can maximise the benefits of these supplements for skin, hair and nails.
  • OneVit Vitamin C - Vitamin C contributes to the synthesis of collagen, which can help improve skin elasticity. Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant, protecting skin from free radical damage. These effects complement the positive effects of OneVit Biotin on skin health.
  • OneVit Iron - Iron ensures proper oxygen delivery to hair follicles, promoting hair growth and reducing thinning, while biotin enhances keratin production to strengthen hair. Therefore, it can be worth taking OneVit Iron and OneVit Biotin together to improve hair health.
