What is an Accu-Chek FastClix Lancing Device?

Accu-Chek FastClix lancing devices are finger-prick tests used by people with diabetes to test their blood glucose levels.

What are Accu-Chek FastClix Lancing Devices used for?

For diabetics, accurate blood glucose monitoring is imperative - and that’s where Accu-Chek’s lancing devices come in.

Each device comes with an innovative drum containing six lancets. The lancets are preloaded and can be used without physical contact, maximising hygiene and safety of use.

In addition, each device contains eleven depth settings for different skin types - ensuring a smooth and gentle entry with precision-guided technology.

And when the drum’s running out, don’t worry - the built-in lancet counter will tell you exactly when you need to replace it.

How do blood sugar tests work?

For people with diabetes, blood sugar tests are one of the best ways to understand their condition and how it responds to different foods, medications and activities. By keeping a record of blood sugar levels, diabetics and their doctors can make plans to manage the condition.

Home tests typically work using portable blood glucose meters known as glucometers. During the test, a lancet will prick the skin and draw a small amount of blood, usually from a fingertip. The meters will then tell you your current blood sugar level.

It’s important to remember that diabetics’ blood sugar levels change often. For that reason, tests must be taken frequently and recorded.

What if my blood sugar levels are too high/low?

If your blood sugar levels are too high, a condition also known as hyperglycaemia, you may experience symptoms such as:

  • Frequent urination
  • Drowsiness
  • Nausea
  • Extreme hunger or thirst
  • Blurry vision

Low blood sugar, also known as hypoglycaemia, is characterised by these symptoms:

  • Shaking
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Sweating
  • Anxiety
  • Dizziness
  • Extreme hunger
  • Weakness and tiredness
  • Irritability
